Thinking about switching to DE from Mach3

Complete and utter DE newbie here so please excuse the silly questions

I've been reading this forum off and on for about 3 months now and I'm seriously tempted to switch to DE when I see the benefits (cost, quality of shave etc)

At the moment I use Mach 3 and shaving oil and shave in the shower and I like the comfort of doing it in the shower. Unfortunately I just dont have the time in the mornings to go to the same extent as some folks here with my shaving regime.

If I get a DE razor can I...
    - use it in the shower?
    - use oil with it?
    - if oil is a no, the shaving creams/soaps, would they be useable in the shower ie. mix it up on my hands and apply or something like that?
    - is there a specific way I need to use/not use, DE razors?
    - how many uses should I expect to get out of a blade?

I have been looking at shaving.ie for the starter kits. I'm leanning towards the cheaper of the 2 simply because I don't want to drop 80 quid if it doesnt work out

I'd appreciate any feedback on this. As i said at the start COMPLETE newb to this

Short answer is a DE shave isn't best suited for having in a shower especially when starting out.

What I've found is a DE shave is closer so I can have a DE shave the night before and still be stubble free the next day in work.
Try and find 10 minutess in your pre-bed 'routine' and fit the shaving in there.

I agree with Hermano about the shower. As for the other questions:

You're probably better off using some shaving cream applied with a shaving brush.

The number of uses you'll get out of blades depends on how tough your facial hair is.

There are also a couple of important things to consider when shaving. Among the most important is to always keep your face wet. Dry skin will cause irritation. Be a little more gentle than you would with a mach3 as it does not take as much effort and if you press down too hard, you'll get irritation.

There are a series of very informative and helpful youtube posts by the user mantic59. I would recommend checking it out.
