    Thanks

    Chill guys,

I am asking if there are any communal places like this, just standing around like lets say playground for children?

In many EU countries there are places like this where you can come and use it for your own liking.

It is not a rocket science to build two metal ramps out of few peace of metal you know, the upkeep is minimal so often it is taken by city councils just like with other public use places - all right?

And do you really think I would ask this question if I had my own drive way?

    But thanks for answering.

This is Ireland though, not a hope of the government providing facilities for motorists

hehe, well it was worth trying.

I seen one ramps like this in Finglas when I was passing by but I would not immobilize my car there for long so was hoping maybe there are more of them scattered around the city.

Anyway if someone would know about location like this I would appreciate info.

    Cheers

I've heard of DIY garages in the UK, where you rent a space with a lift and tools by the hour, but there's nothing like this in Ireland at the moment.

Something like that is just asking for problems. Irish people have a serious claim issue, hydraulics and machinery is just asking for problems.

In theory it would be great, but unfortunately, like all good things in life, there will always be a minority who will ruin it for the majority.

@OP. It's unlikely you will find anything like this as you will not be covered by insurance and most garages aren't going to let a stranger use their facilities for free.

Small independent garages are calling out for business, small matters like oil changes etc are going to take an hour at the very most. I know of plenty of places charging 30-40 euro per hour labour. Ring around.

    Hi thanks for suggestion,

I got my own tools is just I do not have a place to use them :).

When I was asking I was thinking about public use places not specialized places like garages.

Just two slopes made from metal where I can put my car and get under it, nothing fancy.

But I understand that it does not work like it in IE.

Do not get me wrong but for 40e I can get 4l of finest engine oil and job itself takes 25min with a break for a drink.

I will find some way to do it myself.

Ask someone can you use their garden for doing a small service to ur car as you have no garden. Buy them a 6 pack of beer as a return.

Take it to your nearest Garage/Petrol Station.

    Park over by the Air/Service.

Jack the car up on which ever side at the front.

It won't look suspicious, just like someone changing a tyre!

Roll under, undo sump bolt & drain away into a pan or a basin if you have.

When empty, you know the rest, change filter, top up with fresh oil etc....

Use a funnel or cut a coke bottle in half & use it to drain the old oil back into the empty oil can you just used.

Take the can to your local recycling center. I'm sure it's free! :D

I ended up buying jack lift and 4 axle stands and a portable LED lamp and I did it in underground parking lot :)

Was fun. Oil and fuel filter changed.

    My MX5 is happy now.

    Cheers
