Cash on plane

Does anyone know how much cash you can bring on a flight before you have to declare it?

I'm going on holiday and renting a house. The plan is to pay half now and half in cash on arrival - the cash sum is about €1700. Would I be silly to bring this amount of money on the flight?

I'm flying from Ireland to France.

    Grateful for any info
