    Is that really a downside though? Makes keeping porn inaccessible to kids a little easier. And if any internet provider decides to block xxx then people will just take their business elsewhere.

    About damn time.

    The Americans were trying to fight this as they fear all leisure sex related sites would (still could) be forced to be shifted over to this - a possible outcome being that if anyone wanted to ban all such sites, it would be easier by just banning/blocking anything with the ".XXX" extension.

    Seeing as America supplies the world with the most adult sexual content sites in the world (70%+), they are worried more about their profits again.
