First dirt bike?

I was recently on a holiday and I got to have a go on a Honda 400r (I think, judging by the stickers on it but I cant find an exact match online) dirt bike and I really enjoyed it and wouldn't mind getting a dirt bike myself. Id like it to be relatively cheap and easy enough to ride and certainly not as heavy as that bike.

So could any one point me in the right direction with some suggestions?

    Thanks

Sounds like you had a spin on a XR400r a fairly serious bit of kit for begineer.

You basically have to ask yourself what you will actually do with the bike is it trail riding or motocross you want to do?

If it just for flogging around a field, any street trail cross over bike of less than 250 would be fine for a newbee, until you decide you want to get serious about things. Chinese trail bikes are cheap but of suspect quailty.

It's really what you want to do, will decide what type of bike you should get

Yeah man it was something else foe a beginner alright, but I just about handled it well. Just not used to the gears really and the thing weighs a ton.

Yeah Im not really interested in motocross, just trail riding as you say, but you never know. I was looking at some 125's in the honda range, but if you could give me a few links to what you're talking about that would be great.
