Car Insurance

I don't know if this is the right place for this question. Sorry if it is not.
I have a need to long term rent or lease a car. Currently renting one and it is costing me a fortune as there is also a charge for insurance through the rental company. Have not had insurance in about six months in my own name and the it was on a commercial vehicle. Was told by a leasing company that they would give a great deal on a car lease but would need my own my insurance. Have rang a lot of the insurance providers (AXA, Aviva, FBD, One Direct etc) as well as brokers and no one will provide me with insurance unless the car is in my name and the leasing company is unwilling to sign the car over to me.

Does anyone know of an insurance company or broker that would give me insurance if the car is not in my name or a way to work around this?
    Many Thanks.
