Hey people,eh what'd be a good beginner dj setup? I've been told to get pioneer (as they are the best and are quality, will last, etc)

    Any suggestions?

3 options - CDs, vinyl, or digital.

Vinyl are probably the best, but they're way too expensive. CDs are next best, and are affordable, if you get like Pioneer 200s or something. Digital is the cheapest, but you'll learn more on CDs.

Gemini I think are supposed to be ok at cheaper CDJs. That or the best Pioneer gear you can afford.

why not look on adverts for a second hand setup, for £700 you could get a a set to second hand turntables and a traktor setup, use vinyl to control mp3s, very hands on and your entire music collection at your finger tips

this does a lot for the money, if you already have a laptop/pc then get this and Traktor and you'll be flying

Don't go for brand new to be honest. For the 700 quid there (roughly 800 euro?) you could pick up a secondhand Vestax-Vci 100 (great midi controller) Traktor Pro, a set of decent second hand active monitors and a set of good headphones.

If you decide you don't like DJing, you'll be able to sell all that on for pretty much the same price you bought it. The way things are going in the industry right now seems to be aimed towards digital, so learning digital now would probably be your best bet. It's relatively cheap as well.

Don't start off with Pioneer unless you're rich...your best bet is to get a hardware controller such as the Hercules DJ Console RMX or the Numark OMNI Control, they'll run you about €275-300. Those are both decent controllers, there's lower and higher end but those are in the sweet spot.

A decent Pioneer setup is the CDJ-400 and DJM-400, a setup like that will cost you about €1,700. It's not wise to spend that kind of money if you're only starting out.

I had thought that myself "DaveyDave" as I think buying the best right away isn't a good idea (and I didn't do that when I started on guitar years ago) I'm just going by advice,as this is all new to me. Thanks very much for your info there too dude :)

If your going the digital route, id recommened for starters either a Vestax VCI 100, with an external sound card, or a vestax VCI 300 (built in SC), then use Traktor Pro or Ableton maybe, but stay away from that sync button :p. Try out mixing and stuff before you buy as people said though as its expensive and you might not like it.
