How old is he now? Most cases clear up after a spell in the Neonatal ICU. I hope you and your little man will be OK, there was a woman in my ward whose son got it andy heart was breaking for her in the ward with us and our babies when she was separated from hers. He was grand in the end though just had to stay in a week after she went home.

    Hi op,

I was carrying Group B strep and my daughter got Group B strep meningitis at 3 weeks old. It took a while to develop in her. It remained dormant in her system for a while. She was in hospital on a concoction of antibiotics for 15 days.

It was a really tough time but Thankfully shes perfect now. She has had an eye test and a hearing test and all is fine. The most important thing is that it is caught early.

Best of luck. I know how hard it is.

He is 2 mths old now but from the start docs told us he was so bad with it he might not walk or talk so everyday is hard. He was in ICU for over 3 weeks, I am hoping they are wrong, had a MC before him and could not bare to have another child, I am in rag order, its just so hard. He looks so perfect, a big mop of blonde curls and the biggest blue eyes.

Nobody I know ever heard of strep b and I went mad goggle it and it puts the ****es
right up you. I am a nervous rack.

    Thanks for your answers.

Look op, my daughter was really bad with it too. I was told all this scary stuff that she might be blind, she might be deaf, she might be this she might be that. They are all MIGHT BE's. There also maybe the fact that your baby MIGHT BE PERFECT.

I am taking each day as it comes with my daughter. I look into her big blue eyes and I know that whatever obstacle faces us that I will deal with it. I love her more than anything and I feel so bad that she has been through so much and shes only 5 months old.

You just have to take each day as it comes. My daughter seems to have a problem with her legs so i'm waiting on an appointment for that. Look op, you gotta keep thinking positive things. I have cried so much for Saoirse but the best thing I can do for her is be strong. You need to do the same x
