Visiting China

    Hi Guys,

I know there are loads of helpful threads about visiting china already. I have read most of them. Was just wondering if anyone has been to the Zhejiang province in China, Specifically Hangzhou?

Was wondering if anyone knows where I would find an interpreter? Are there any portal companies that help with this? What is the closest airport? Any advice in general???

Have been in touch with the company I am visiting and was just wondering how I could get additional info about other companies(compeditors) in the area???

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Bobby

Yea I have been there, it's only about a two or three hour bus journey from Shanghai PVG airport and buses go every hour or so. I will pm you details of an interpreter who I used in Jhejiang, he lives about an hour away but it should be ok.

You can search alibaba.com and only show results from Hangzhou to find competitors or just ask around when you get there. I found that city maps list only the really big factories and often the bigger operators don't advertise on alibaba.

    Thanks Mickk,

How much did the interpretter cost per day? Did he have a car? Any other tips/advice you can think of?

In his home city (Yongkang) 40 euro a day, in Hangzhou I would imagine 50 or 60. He did have a car and it included him driving me around all day to different factories. He found me a few good leads aswell through chinese google.

You would have to fly into Shanghai. In order to get there from Shanghai get the high speed train from Shanghai south railway station to Hangzhou, its like a japanese bullet train. Should have you there in just over the hour. Get your interpreter to buy you tickets and send them on to you. Very nice train and its easy enough to find your way around the station. You can get to that station from the subway in central shanghai.

I would reccomend the Zhejiang media hotelin the centre of Hangzhou as the place to stay. Very nice clean modern hotel and minutes from the West lake (major tourist attraction, might as well have a look while your there).

Ring your interpreter before you go over, have a chat with them, make sure there english is ok and they know what your about.

    Best of Luck.

The good thing about hangzhou is there is generally a good few foreigners about, mainly tourists so you wont feel ill at ease like it can be deep in central China.

KLM fly directly to Hangzhou. They are the best from Dublin. Amsterdam typically has the shortest turnaround times. They actually have some good deals (from China to Dublin return at least - not sure about Dublin-China)...

    Hey Bobby,

Just wondering if you got sorted for a translator? I was there last year and I know someone. Unfortunately no car but taxis there are cheap out.

    Revert if your stuck.

    Sean
