I'm starting college in September as a mature student and im going to move to the town where the college is located next week , its only 8 miles from where im currently living but being close to the college is a necessity.
im wondering if i can keep on signing and collecting my dole in my current town while living in the other becuase the town where the college is located is far bigger and busier and signing or even menial tasks such as getting in to the post office are a mission due to always being busy.

You're not allowed to sign on while you are studying! Unless you are actively seeking work then you cannot sign on... you might be entitled to BTEA though.

You will be committing fraud is you are studying and JSA/JSB you have to sign off and apply for back to education allowance

I'm quite aware of that , but until I start college I will still be signing... hence my original question.

You should inform the SW office when you change your address. Assuming that your circumstances aren't changing, and nothing that changes will affect your payments, then there's probably nothing morally wrong with not informing them. Legally, you should. Who's going to be living at your old address after you move? Will they be able to hold post in your name for you in case the SW office is trying to get in touch with you? Will they be getting welfare as well? If it's an individual address, it could flag something as 'off' in the SW office?

Thanks for your reply , I intend on doing everything by the book and I want to make a clean move , I dont need the hassle of worrying about mail etc going to an address im not living at... In my situation the reason I want to keep signing at the smaller town is because the dole office is tiny and getting an appointment or even calling in to go through paperwork etc takes minutes as opposed to the bigger town where I lived in the past calling into get a form or something signed can take hrs...
