Putter recommendation

I've been using a Maxfli TM-S1 (which I can't even find a picture of online) for a good while but it's reached the end of its natural life at this stage.

I'm looking for something fairly conventional (i.e. doesn't look like this), has good feel and puts a nice roll on the ball, and costs no more than about €100. I was thinking of a second hand Scotty Cameron but decided they're probably still that bit too expensive, or are they worth it? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Yes! tracy putter. Lovely weight. Great roll & looks similar to a scotty newport 2.

Recently bought a Cleveland Classic 2 putter from golfstoreeurope.com, fantastic putter for under €70, a friend of mine who uses a Scotty say the feel of mine is every bit as good, if not better than the scotty. Lovely feel and fantastic roll off the face, has really improved my confidence on those awkward 12 - 6 foot putts, which was always a bit lacking.

Bought a Ping Piper (karsten series) putter about 9 months ago and i've never putted so well and i've had my fair share of putters. It cost 80 or 90 euro, cant remember exactly. Definately worth a look.

Thanks all, seems there is no real reason to break the bank. Will look at all those suggested.

Bought the Fisher CT2 with soft insert from American Golf on the recommendation of the salesman. Was so impressed I rang them up to thank him. Beautiful weight, fantastic grip and really well balanced putter - has improved my green play by at least 50%.

You should be able to pick up a Ping Anser for €100 or less - classic putter. Still copied 40 years on and arguably the design has never been bettered.

Mc Guirks have them for €79 AFAIK - feel a bit light for me compared to the Fishers

Can't say anything about this putter having never used one, just noticed yesterday that they're selling them for 65 in McGuirks as well

your better off spending a few extra quid, get a custom fitted yes putter, you'll pick 1 up for about 130E. Their PROVEN to roll the ball better than any other putter on centred strikes and off centre strikes. They have a list of custom fitters on their website too.

Ahh so he did, silly me.

Hah, my club is one of the custom fitters. Can't remember seeing any Yes putters in the pro shop but I'll ask.

Custom fitting putters can be tricky, ping did it with legth and lie before, but its so different with head shape, hosels, centre shafted, face balanced etc. you're better off borrowing a few of your mates or heading to the shop.

I've got a YES for years, its a mallet - one before they gave them girlie names. Also got a Mizuno bettinardi which is an odd shape but nice also. I recently picked up an Oddessy Rossie mallet tour on ebay, was slighty used but only cost 60 shipped to me, class putter, no wonder Ernie is doing so well with it.

If you are buying a putter make sure you dont get 'shafted' excuse the pun, on the length, they should be able to cut it down for you if they dont have a shorter one in stock, Most people have started to go for shorter these days, 34'' compared to 35'' a few years back. Think mine are all about 33''1/2. I'd sell you one of mine but i'm a lefty!!

I've gone for one of these if anyone cares, was on the verge of getting a YES but the Ping is just a classic. Thanks again for the advice.
