Hi our business featured on RTE and I have recorded it using the media centre on our PC, but it was part of a longer programme so I am only interested in our 5 mins:

What/how can I edit it down, do I need special software, can I get it free ?

I then want to post the clip up on our web site, can I do that are there any legal issues, I assume it will clearly show the RTE logo on the top right as in my recording?

You can use windows movie maker which should already be installed on your PC.

You will have to get permission from RTE to upload it.

You are legally not allowed to put it up on your website, you can try but if it's flagged RTE will have it taken down.

Should be easy to edit though.

forget movie maker as it's crap. download a trial version of adobe premiere or some other package (cs5 would need 64 bit os).
