    Hi

I recently cancelled my contract with Sky and some one told me that it is still possible to get the terrestrial free to air channels like RTE through the Sky box . Has any one heard of this and if so any tips on how to do it ?

    Thanks

You will not get RTE but the best option is to remove your sky card, power off the box at the mains and then restart.

You will now have a UK EPG 101 is BBC etc and a fair few channels (all of the BBC & ITV channels) - just set the channels you can see as favourites and saves scrolling through loads of channels you cannot view.

Only way to get RTE etc without additional equipment is to pay a basic subscription or get an aerial (which I suppose is actually additional equipment:p)

You can still get the likes of BBC, Channel 4, e4 etc. but it's not possible to get any of the Irish channels through your digibox without a subscription.

There is a thread showing what channels you can get and how to tune them in. Link below.

You wont get RTE or the Irish channels thru the Sky box but you will still get a good few free to air channels. Most of them will be the junk ones you probably never watched anyway but the likes of BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky News are free to air. There is another thread up around the top of this forum where someone has listed off the more popular channels you can recieve. Take a look in the Satellite forum as well as they will provide a lot more information.
