How make bit extra cash?

    Hi all
First of all I don't know if this is the right section for this so forgive me if I'm wrong.
I have sold a few items on the likes of ebay and have been successful now no major money involved or that but all small cash is extra cash!
I work part time and my husband has been let go from work, over a year now. But recently I have been thinking of how to get extra items to sell on ebay?
Can anybody help me. Where would you suggest maybe to get wholesale items? I would only need few items at a time.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could advise me or help me with this.
    Thanks all
    zajdoo

I've also been looking at this, maybe buying items in bulk and selling them on..

Does anyone on here have a successful ebay business here?

The cost of posting stuff from Ireland seems to a big limiting factor when it comes to competing with UK and European sellers..

    Any hints and tips appreciated.

Did that 'ebay' thing ... too much hassle, (insurance, breakage, lost in post, delayed / no payment etc etc) over time and not enough dosh. Having bought 'mini franchise' in communications, life is a doddle!

Guy in my area delivers milk to the door.
Costs a little bit extra but it's nice to know there's always milk in the house.

    zajdoo,

What kind of products have you been selling so far?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 122 ✭✭John368

I have been trading the odd item on eaby for several years now. When I started about 6 years I was able to sell things like junk I did not want quite easily. Now it is quite different. It seems to be buyer's market.

One example is that I bought a 2m long USB extension lead for £1.50 recently on ebay (incl P&P on a "Buy Now" basis). This was not the cheapest £0.99 was the cheapest, but I thought that was just too good to be true. These cables retail at over £10 in Curries and are lets face it more than just a piece of wire but quite sophisticated. How can those guys be making a profit. Even if they are buying them in from China at £0.10 each the postage will cost £0.31 + perhaps £0.1 for Jiffy bag plus the ebay fees etc. etc.

Has anybody else found the same thing with ebay.

    John

Sure have. Its crazy! Unless you find a niche market its hard to make a good few pound.

Most of those wholesalers are selling direct now so its even harder.

I have a friend who is making a few quid selling old telephones. He buys them cheap in car boot sales, second hand shops and online and then sells to specialists or through Ebay. If people want "collectables" then they will pay that bit extra.

For some years now my wife and I promote and recommend telephone & broadband services, our own part-time business, and with the advent of 'WiMax' a whole new opportunity has opened up ... and in January 2011 a new mobile phone service also.
Imagine being there when 'televisions', 'fax machines', 'micro-ovens' etc., were first launched ... a rare opportunity! That's like it is now for us.
    Anyone wants details, pm me.
