Hi there, i was wondering if there is anyone on here who has done this. Out of all the politics post grads in Ireland i am drawn to this the most due to the course content.

In particular i'm looking for feedback on the Politics in the ROI part of the course. My concern is that although the Politics of NI side of things is obviously top notch, is the Politics in the ROI part of the course 'basic' in its content in comparison and would i better served doing a politics post grad in the south?

Can't help too much as I was a straight MA in politics (class of 09). However I was really surprised at how un-NI (not a word but you know what I mean) the QUB approach to politics as a whole is - it's much more a global approach. The MA IP isn't really as Irish as it could be though looking at the module guide. The thing about the Politics school at QUB is that all the postgrad degrees overlap a lot (can be a blessing or a curse depending on what you want to specialise in). For example, the modules that I took to satisfy my MA in Politics also filled the requirements for the MA in Comparative Ethnic Conflict and MA in VTS.

You can check out the module guides and faculty bios online. That might help sway your decision in one way or the other.

Edit: The pathway guide is here. I've done the Political Economy, Conflict Intervention and Global Terrorism classes if you have any Qs about those.

Cheers for the post and the link, indeed looking at the pathways for both the Politics & IP MAs they are pretty similar.

what is your experience of the modules you took? i'm less drawn to the full modules like Political Economy & Global Terrorism as i've done a fair bit on these topics at undergrad level, also would you have any feedback from yourself or anyone on the half modules on offer like Politics & Cultural Forms and The Media & Conflict?.

    Regards.
