The stupid yellow card rule in the World Cup

I actually don't understand why FIFA thought that getting a yellow card in 2 separate games deserves the same ban for players who get 2 yellows in 1 game. Considering some of the non-fouls that have been given so far and yellows being unfairly handed out imo it's just ridiculous. I mean, this is going to mean that a lot of great players are taken out of the competition and isn't the main draw of the World cup all (or at least most) of the great players pitting themselves against each other?

I agree, there should be a clean slate at least if you make it to the knockout rounds

And a appeals committee Kaka's 2nd yellow was a disgrace last night. In fact the ref last night last a disgrace

Clean slate applies in the qtrs.

Yellow is a yellow get 2 and you get a ban, the players know this beforehand and for the last 20 odd years.

The referee was particularly bad in the Germany/Serbia match. No way that Klose should have been sent off. Not only was he far too card-happy, he was very inconsistent, in a way that favoured Serbia, not just because they exploited his attitude by diving a lot.

could be there from the start of time - still stupid.

Unmarried fathers in this country have basically no rights. Its been that way for years and years - do you think that should also be left alone cause it is simply the way it is?

    Same applies.

Men dont have kids outside of wedlock in ireland.

Footballers dont get yellow cards in the world cup.

If the yellow's given out were actually deserving offences, then the 2 card rule wouldn't even be that bad (though id still prefer it to be 3), but when you have instances like Kaka's it just makes a joke of it.

Players can know the ruling all they want, but how are you supposed to mitigate for a ref who throws out yellow's for things which shouldn't even be fouls? At least 3 yellows required would lessen the possibility of injustices being done (obviously Kaka would still have been off in this instance however, being a second yellow in the same game)

There were 3 clear yellows not given in that match last night possibly more, it works both ways but the 2 card rule is fine imo.

the 2 card rule is fine if the refs did their job properly. As you have just pointed out yourself, they are not. Therefore either a change in rulings to account for this, or a change in refs is required. I'd be happy with either.

Exactly - people here are (rightly) complaining about Kaka's second yellow and other decisions... but that's just crap refereeing, nothing to do with the 2-card rule really.

The 2-card rule is the exact same principle, just over a shorter time, as the 'totting up' procedure in all (I think?) top leagues. If you ditch it, two yellow card offences in just 3 group matches carries no repercussions - is that really what people want? Or just good refereeing? Don't confuse the two.

I think aside from bad ref calls its a good system that tries to do away with some of the scheisty playing going on, all the drama-queen diving, etc.

Now to fix the scheisty refs...

I think the 2 card rule is ridiculous. Chile's best player is going to miss their next match against Spain, for a nothing foul that wasnt even a yellow. its stupid having players miss game , because they got 2 cards in 2 seperate matchs. now if they get 2 yellows and therefore a red card in one game then fine.

not only is the rule stupid, but the terrible reffing doesnt help!

I think if players werent being such pussies on the pitch then the refs job would be easier.
