I am wondering if anyone has any particular views on the merits of using either an exercise bike or a treadmill to increase my cardio exercise.

What would you be hoping to gain form using either of these pieces of equipment? What are your goals?

As you are thinking of using a treadmill, why not take advantage fo the summer weather we currently have and run outside in a park/field etc?

Also I would rate the Concept II rower over either an exercise bike or treadmill

Thanks for the speedy response B-Builder.

I should have probable explained my situation in the original post.

I'm based in North Africa, temperatures of 40+ and crazy drivers mean running outdoors is not a real option. My goals are a bit of weight loss and generally looking after my health. I only have access to the exercise bike and/treadmill.

    Hi There

Yep, that does put a different spin on it alright :D

Well then , I would say utilise both. But don't just do steady state running or cycling. Throw in some intervals, where you go fast/flat out for say 1 minute then recover for 2 minutes and go again. build up to doing this 8-10 times. Then look to decrease the recovery time.

Also google some body weight routines and throw them into the mix. Use what ever you have to hand as extra weight where required.

    Best Regards,

    M
