    1099023_full-prt.jpg vs hitzfeld_finger345x468.jpg

It's very much the relentless attacking fluidity of Marcelo Bielsa's Chile vs the stern defensive metal of Ottmar Hitzfeld's Switzerland, who will look to catch their opponents on the counter attack.

This could be the most interesting tactical battle of the World Cup so far. We all saw what Chile are capable of last week, and with the prolific Humberto Suazo returning up front, don't expect Chile to so wasteful in front of goal this time round should the chances fall his way. However, Switzerland have now gone 5 World Cup finals' games without conceding a goal, so if anybody can withstand the Chilean attack, it will be the Swiss.

Can't wait for this game, should be a cracker.

Looking forward to seeing Alexis Sanchez again. Cracking little player!

    Suazo starts :)

    Humberto_Suazo.jpg

I imagine Chile will line up the same as last week should Switzerland keep 2 up top:

    .................Bravo

    Isla.....Ponce.....Medel....Jara

    ......Carmona.......Vidal

    ..............Fernandez
    Sanchez...............Beausejour
    ................Suazo

If Switzerland only play one up top, expect Gary Medel to move up into a defensive midfield role just behind Carmona and Vidal. Should be a good game.

    Good start for Suazo :D

    Suazo booked after 2 minutes.

Surprised he got away with it for so long! He'll prob get sent off for removing his shirt if he scores.

Cant wait to see Chile up against a proper solid defence, this should give us an idea of what theyre really like :p

Sanchez was really impressive in the first game, hope he can keep it up today ;)

It's slightly different to what they usually play - Vidal and Isla are a lot wider than I've usually seen them (probably due to how well they did as wingbacks in the back 4 against Honduras). Lining up something like this:

    ......................Bravo

    .......Medel.......Ponce.......Jara.......

    ....................Carmona

    .....Isla............................Vidal

    ...................Fernandez
    Sanchez..........................Beausejour
    ......................Suazo

    This ref is some tool

Don't blame the refs, blame FIFA and FAs for giving them badges, and then FIFA telling them that they're going to ref a World Cup match.

    Can we clone Collina?

Mark Bright just said 'rolling over' while describing a chance for the Swiss. :pac:

    Harsh sending off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,027 ✭✭✭✭titan18

I'm actually getting pissed off with all this cheating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,209 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

    Another shocking decision I LOL'd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Personally i wouldn't have sent him off,

But Behrami was silly in what he done considering the reffing at these games, and in particular the ref in this game.

    Sames.:D

Terrible from Vidal though. I'm embarrassed for him.

I'm getting pissed off with the amateur fcuking organisation that is FIFA. A quick video review of that and 5 seconds later we can get on with the game 11 v 11. The dinosaurs running the sport are making a shambles of it in terms of a spectacle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,633 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

What a terrible sending off. Two dives by Chilean players and they get a guy sent off.

What will FIFA do about it....absolutely nothing!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

another game ruined by play acting cheating players and card happy refs who can't show some common sense and restraint. A yellow would have been enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Lol, OK, this referee is plainly an idiot.

No, it should still be 11 vs. 10 - with the cheater being sent off.

Yellow would have been fine for that...

Cant decide this match or Wimbledon!

Exactly like is this a proper sporting organisation or just a complete joke, i mean if GAA are amateurs and they can review some situations to give bans then what does that mean FIFA are, all you can do is laugh at the joke that is FIFA

Well yes that too......but I'd be happy with a replay and 11v11 as a start.

They should bring in video refs for these decisions.........

Not a whole lot of decisions I'd disagree with from the ref. Terribly scrappy niggly game..

Looks like Fed wants to get off early to see 2nd half of the Swiss match.

****in' refs in this tournement...Klose, Behrami, Kaka et al all missing their next games for no reason..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Chile have no excuse here - the player advantage they need to score.

A draw could be a potentially disastrous result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

They were all interfering with the goalie's sight anyway.

    Correct decision.

Althought it would be a disaster for football if Chile don't beat the Swiss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

I want Switzerland to make it to 67 mins without conceeding... then Chile can score. This match has pretty boring though. At least Wimbledon is exciting!

Switzerland have kept 5 clean sheets in a row at the World Cup, they got eliminated from the last tournament without conceding a goal, they won't be easy to break down. I hope they hang on anyway
