This is an article I can't improve upon.

Though if ever the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland walked the streets, this was him (minus the crack, sex, prostitution and sodomy that is;))

Have a read a and a glance at his picture here
The artist Sebastian Horsley prided himself on being an intoxicating cocktail, revelling in obscenity, debasement, glamour and heartmelting sweetness.....His Soho neighbours [were] more used to seeing the meticulous dandy in red high heels and pink suede designer suits (complete with secret pockets for his heroin syringes)......"He created a fiasco around him, but he was gentle, sweet and unusually sensitive underneath," said Tanya Wade, Horsley's neighbour and co-owner of Maison Bertaux, the Soho teahouse where the artist would frequently take afternoon tea in his velvet top hat and tailcoat, delicately holding the tiny cake fork between long, varnished red fingernails.

    Shame

Is a hedonist just a junkie who uses long words?

AH never ceases to confuse. on one thread a dead model is being more or less lambasted for her death from a cocaine overdose. are we supposed to praise this guy who died from another drug overdose just because he wore a tall hat and was eccentric?

You're not supposed to do anything. You can react to the thread any way you like.

I think you'll find many people on this thread are criticising him. So perhaps if you read the thread you might realise that it is just people reacting naturally and there's no set boards.ie approved reaction that you should adhere to.

Y'know - just have an auld think for yourself and see what comes out. :)

Why would her seeing it matter? All she said was she read about him.

Are we not allowed to add to the thread unless we've seen or experienced his work to your liking?

i had an aul think alright, but all i can think of is armstrong and miller's podcasts taking the piss out of modern art. if only they were making new podcasts now, i'd love to hear their thoughts on this guy!

im undecided as to whether this guy leaned more in terms of his inspiration towards oscar wilde (who i have the utmost admiration for) or pete doherty (who i have the utmost detestation for).

his mannerisms suggest a terrible attempt to emulate oscar wilde, but his literary musings suggest the same capability and pretentiousness as that of pete doherty.

oscar wilde was a tormented genius, pete doherty is just irritating.

ahh, im gonna call a pete doherty on this one, placated by those who think he is a genius because they don't know any better- "oh, he's SO out there and nouveau", nah, he's just a pretentious arsé hole, same as this guy!
