    Hey,

I need some good two way radios for mountaineering - I need good range that will not be interupted by mountains, hills etc.

These will be used for group sessions, ski trips (where we might split to other sides of the mountain) and mountain climbing. Can anyone help?

We use two-way radios for safety cover work on Carrauntoohil and use the below radios. They work well for us, although restricted by some extent by line of sight. But having said that, from the bottom of the Hydro Track to Carrauntoohil's summit; radio reception works fine with them.

I asked my local supplier to give me the exact specs and prices of the radios we use, to give you an idea of pricing.

    1 x Motorola GP340 2-way radio and charger - €435.60
    1 x Motorola CP040 2-way radio and charger - €265.50
