I've spotted a used car I would like ran a motorcheck on it and it flagged that the car was sold in Merlin Auctions but with no negative declarations. Is it anything to worry about?

Taking a chance. You pays your money, you takes your choice!

Always have a trusted mechanic with you!

I'll be getting it checked out by a mechanic anyway, but just wondering does the fact it was auctioned mean anything like theres a fair chance it was involved in a accident or am I getting worried over nothing.

Thats the big question! Do one of those carcheck things to see if it been flagged and get it checked out by a mechanic. Thats all you can do?

Wouldnt say its a negative thing that a car was sold on auction. It may have been anything from a repo, to a prev owner wanting a quick sale. If it came back otherwise clear and been checked over by a mechanic etc it shouldnt be a cause for concern imo

Would there be a considerable possibility that the car was repossessed if it were sold at auction at one stage though? If such were the case chances are that the owner who the car was repossessed from couldn't afford it in the first place and skipped on servicing and maintenance....Not saying such is the case but pointing out that perhaps such is a high possibility?
