For anyone intrested fedex have donated their A300 airbus today for a plane pull. It will be held up near the boot in, do not know exact details. From 11:30AM, check orbis website. Would make some intresting photographs....
ORBIS Pull For Sight, 20 June

ORBIS Ireland is delighted to be hosting Europe’s first ever Charity Plane Pull at Dublin Airport on Sunday 20 June 2010. Following the huge success of the ORBIS Pull for Sight in both Canada and Hong Kong, FedEx Express will yet again be supporting ORBIS at the event in Dublin.

    What is a Plane Pull?
It's simple... teams of 25 will line up next to a rope attached to a FedEx Express Airbus A300 (weighing a massive 85 tons) and in turn they will compete to pull the plane 12 feet. The team that pulls the plane the fastest... WINS!

    Who Can Participate?
Anyone over 18 years of age are welcome to join. Just gather 25 of your co-workers, friends or family. The pull is open to corporate groups, service organisations, individuals... anyone who can organise a group and get people motivated to try something new and fun!

When, Where and What Time is the Plane Pull?
The ORBIS Plane Pull 2010 will be held at Dublin Airport on Sunday 20 June. There will be limited free parking available so please car pool where possible. Registration will commence at 11.30am with the actual pulls occurring between 12.30pm and 3:30pm. The event will take place rain or shine!

There will be a BBQ at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport from 2.30pm (which is open to friends and family).

    Date: Sunday 20 June 2010
    Time: 11.30am - 3.30pm
    Location: Dublin Airport
BBQ: Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport 2.30pm

    How much is it?
ORBIS would like to invite you to support the ORBIS Ireland Plane Pull. This is a unique opportunity to gather for a fun, team event. To enter costs €125 per person or €3000 for a team of 25 people.

This includes a BBQ at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport. Friends and family are welcome at the BBQ where there will be kids entertainment and the all important prize giving. Entry to the BBQ for "non-pullers" is €15 for adults and €5 for children.

    Why participate?
In too many countries children who are blind or visually impaired struggle in school, are unable to join the workforce or contribute to their family income and, more than often, are seen as a burden on families and society. Even more shocking is that up to half of children in developing countries, who become blind, will die within a year.

ORBIS has been working to change this and since 1982 they have treated more than 10 million people for blindness related diseases in 87 developing countries worldwide. This has been achieved through the teaching of sight-saving skills to thousands of eye care professionals aboard the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital and in local hospitals. These professionals, in turn, have passed on their expertise to tens of thousands more.

Through attending the Plane Pull and supporting ORBIS Ireland you will help to eliminate unnecessary blindness and save the sight of thousands of people worldwide!

Not to lessen the value of the pull, but there was a fella on TV who pulled a 54-ton truck by himself. 25 people pulling 85 tons seems like a holiday in comparison!

Orbis are a worthy charity though and very much aviation-related. Nice to see them holding events like this.
