almost got knocked over the other night

Me and my friend had a couple of drinks on us, and as we left the pub I went to cross the road.

I saw a car coming but it braked about 20-30 feet away from me, it was travelling on a long straight road and it was a Mercedes. Could have been going 50 mph+ when I stepped onto the road.

BTW, I do know the term "knocked over" isn't applicable when getting a belt of a car going 50 miles per hour
