im weird when it comes to that, if i went to view a car that stunk of smoke, i walk away..... i need to see a doctor over that :D

the things i would do are :
    • take out all mats and hoover and treat with a carpit cleaner
    • treat the floor carpit (under the mats) with the same, hoover and carpit cleaner.
    • clean the headlining with some sort of detergant
    • clean the dashboard/interier plastics with a decent car polish
    • leave windows open for as long as possible.

you may have to do this 2 or 3 times over a few days or a week or two to completely remove it.

yeah the stink is rotten :p my last car was from a smoker too but smell was gone in a day - obviously the leather seats didnt absorb the smell. This car however leaves your clothers smelling when you get out

I`ve literally used two entire cans of deodoriser, cleaned out the car tool out head rests, boot liner, mats - washed em all and left them out of the car airing. The cars windows have been down full time for the past 2 days :D

I might need bleach or something :pac:

Why dont you just get a professional valet done.

A VAX wet and dry vacuum cleaner and some elbow grease would work wonders. Would have to think about where you are using it though, and what might get wet..

Laziest solution is "Febreze" - it works wonders.

But a better solution would be to thoroughly clean and vacuum car with a carpet cleaner, and follow up with Febreze.

Someone asked this question recently and one answer was to peel an onion, chop it in two and leave it in the car over night, apparently it absorbs odours. How do you get rid of the onion smell afterwards though:D

I had to take the seats out of mine, after doing all already posted, then scrub the hell outta them. It's not difficult as the fronts are only held in with 4 nuts and the back about the sand.

kceire is right but in addition you need to polish all the glass if you want to get rid of the smell. POLISH not that spray crap you can get. i find autoglym glass polish is excellent but i'm sure other stuff is just as good. its unreal the amount of tar on the windscreen of a smokers car.

also air fresheners aren't great but you can get this powder stuff that you put in the ash tray and it works really well, its like granules of washing powder in appearance - green or purple i think - sorry i dont know what its called but a valet centre should be able to help you out (i used to work in one and this stuff worked really well).

shampooing the seats and carpets would be no harm too if you have the time.
