I drove this road Limerick - Ennis the last 2 days.

Day 1. On the M18 section I passed 3 cars and a tour bus pulled in on the hard shoulder. 2 of the 3 cars had drivers on the phone. 3rd driver was reading a map. I think it's highly unlikely all 4 were emergencies (the only time you are permitted stop on a motorway hard shoulder) but it's possible. By contrast to that c. 10 mile stretch I drove over 250 miles on UK motorways last w/e - only car in the hard shoulder was a speeder caught by the police.

    Day 2

Traffic was heavy leaving the city between Elm Motors and the new intersection for the road to the toll tunnel. Both lanes were full, but moving albeit slowly. I couldn't believe that in a short (maybe 1.5 mile) stretch 4 cars used the hard shoulder to undertake the traffic.

    Incredible.

Might want to change the title as isn't the Limerick to Ennis road the N18/M18 Henry?

Also not a Motorway until you reach the other side of Shannon so they are entitled to be pulled over.

I think the M7 will end at the Limerick Inn in 11 days time.

I don't think it will because some of the bends are too tight and the junction at setrights makes it non-conforming to a motorway standard.

There's a guy that often goes jogging on the hard shoulder of the Motorway near Ennis. Maybe it was too hot for him!
    :D
I'm just waiting for someone to start selling Wexford strawberries on the Motorway hard shoulder!

On the M7 bypass in Limerick there are cyclists, guys walking dogs, travellers on horses and there is a tractor EVERY monday morning at 8:15am. The Gardai didn't really give a rats when I reported him after seeing him EVERY monday. Limerick County Coucil also use the M7 to move a JCB of sorts(not JCB brand but you get the picture) from place to another quite frequently. They denied it was theirs even though there were 3 hi viz LCC vests hanging in the back of it.

One person needs to die before the Traffic Corps will give a rats.

M4 yesterday, tractor and turf trailer in the hard shoulder doing about 5 mph. No registration plate to be seen anywhere on the heap of scrap.

I drive on motorways every day and there are always cars stopped with people on the phone. It's bad enough that they stop but then when they rejoin the motorway they often do it dangerously - pull straight out while traffic is bearing down on them at 120 km/h. i think they have the attitude that "ah sure the traffic can pull into the overtaking lane to let me out"

I would like to see the book thrown at idiots who break M-way regs like this

Next time Brian, pull over and drive extremely slowly in the hard shoulder forcing him to move into traffic and then drive along next to him.

    P*SS him right off.

1890 205 805. They're going so slowly they can be scooped at the next junction usually.
