when brazil were 1/9 and couldnt win by two goals, that
put me off handicap betting for the rest of the competition

    back the underdog.

England are shocking. That first half performance was disgraceful, as bad, if not worse than France last night. They dont look like they know what they're doing, wtf is going on with them?

There goes my money on England -2.

I hope Algeria beat them now and knock them out of the world cup, they dont deserve to be there based on that first half performance.

People keep backing the favourites on the handicaps and goalscorers and the like when it's clear it's not going like that. 'Underdogs' handicapped or outright is the way to go or favs to win 1-0 or so if you really fancy them.

i spotted it somewhere here a while back the rooney was 8/1 not to
score a goal at the world cup
how i wish i took a stab at this but i was thinking at the time
they would score a few against algeria
if he doesnt do it in this match its gonna looks awful good

went onto betfair to lay rooney scoring at the world cup
theres worse bets out there in my opinion
    22euro at 1.24

World Cup / Players to Score / W Rooney Goals 1 goals or more Lay 11277300976 18-Jun-10
    20:21 1.24 22.00 1.24 18-Jun-10 20:21

theres only 23euro left to lay at the price and the next price is 1.98

Fook it, I've got all out on the draw, just cover my losses, am sticking to the corners/cards/in game betting from now on.

Trap's green army would have had a great chance to go far in this World cup.

    Unlucky lads. Truly.

As I said before, glad I couldn't get to the bookies during the day as I would have put a few more bets on England than the one I put on last night(only worth a couple of euro thankfully).

Going to go big on Holland tomorrow.

THE english players are all good in their respective clubs but thats it. After that they just cant click as a team..

its just the Media blowing them up like some sort of an unstoppable force....

Spain were meant to be favourites to win the tournament!! where are they now... i can see Argentina going all the way to the final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

I have Argentina backed but i still think their defence is shakey and the only way they can win it is by banging in 3+ goals every game.

Don't over react. England put in two fairly poor performances but that doesn't make them useless, remember they still topped their qualifying group. Where are Spain? Currently bottom of their group after putting in a good performance against the Swiss and unluckily losing. They will be back. Argentina have put in 2 good performances but still have a lot of questions to answer.

    How exciting!

While i wouldn't write off England to somehow still qualify. Their performance in their friendlies and thus far in the group stage has indicated that they will be destroyed by any team with a bit more quality than who they have played so far.

England are 2/1 NOT to qualify - great bet.

After the USA game I posted that England were 8/1 not to qualify !

    Anyone take that bet? I didn't :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,134 ✭✭✭x in the city

you must be watching different games

Argentina are clearly the best team thus far, Spain were utter c0ck against the swiss.

England were mostly brutal in their two games so far

    questions.?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

England havent faced a decent team in that long they wont know what to do when they do meet one, when was their last difficult opposition?

was it Brazil, which they got trashed?

In a similar way to Ireland no longer having a Roy Keane, England don't have a Becham or a Scholes. There's no creative engine in midfield. Germany have Ozil, Italy have Pirlo, Netherlands have Robben. England have some ok midfielders but nothing like that, nothing exceptional. If they win the world cup , it will be a sign that football is going down hill.
