    HI all
just looking for some advice. Over the last three months ive started slowly to develop shin splints.....
I run 5 days out of seven and its a mix of on concrete and grass....
I went and invested in a new spanky pair of runners to try and ease the impact on my legs
Went for a run in new runners last night and while it is certainly better by the time i got home my right shin was in bits.......
Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this?

    Hi Loopsie.

Firstly apologies, but I had to close this thread as it is against the forum charter to give medical type advice as it could end up doing you more harm than good.

Shinsplints is often a catchall term used for shin pain and can have a number of causes.

The best advice I can give you is to make an appointment with a good physio, who hopefully can tell you the cause of your pain and give you some rehab exercises & stretches to get you active again.

I can give you the contact details of a very good physio who is based in Dundrum (close to the SC). This guy works with some of Irelands elite athletes and so is used to dealing with running injuries.

PM me if you would like his contact details.

    Best Regards,

    M
