Most Suitable Nokia for GF!

Hi all, as the thread title suggests I'm looking for a Nokia for the GF, I have a HTC Hero, and am getting a Desire soon, she isn't big into phones but likes Nokia's, no interest in HTC or LG etc. Basically I'm looking to spend around 200-250 max on a decent preferably touch screen phone with good storage, good camera and any nice extra's.

I don't have any interest in Nokia phones whatsoever so I can't really judge, also second hand is an option as long as the condition is excellent.

N97 Mini and N900 would be perfect, but seem very expensive. Anyone any idea's? Thanks in advance.

You sure she'd have no interest in a HTC?

My better half can never really be arsed wit phones, her contract is up in July, mine was January, so normally i'll take her new phone and she'll keep her old one.

In Jan though i picked up a Hero, she's seen it, she wants it, so next month she'll get one, and she normally doesn't give a rats about phones.

Positive, she likes the Hero but she doesn't want it, it would be wasted on her anyway, definitely Nokia is what she wants.

Is it for a birthday present? cause if it isn't I would tell her to hold off and get the N8 when it comes out which should hopefully be in the next couple of months

Doubt you'll get an N8 for 200 - 250 when it comes out, plus it could turn out to be an overpriced turkey like the N97.

OP never indicates if she is a pre or post pay customer, so depending on which she is she may be able to get one

The N900 is aimed at a particular market have a look at this thread first.

IIRC, the N97 mini only has 8GB of internal storage, and no radio.

...and the full sized N97 turned out be such a turd that personally i'd avoid the N97 mini for fear the two have something in common other than a number.

She's on PAYG, she isn't huge into phones, she wants a nice looking phone that does the basics well and has a good camera, 8gb storage for her is plenty tbh, I'm thinking of trying to trade my Hero + 50-100 quid for an N900, is that realistic?

I'm not sure if a Hero + 50-100 will get you an N900.(?)

Did you look at the link i pasted?

I REALLY do not think the N900 is for someone who isn't huge into phones.

Aside from the things discussed in thread i linked to, the user interface is very UN-Nokia.

Yeah, but it's pretty and is supposed to be decent for Skype, she's from Slovakia and uses Skype alot, she'd love that tbh. I don't need a brand new N900, I'd buy it online if it had little use, maybe N97 mini would suit her better.

What other realistic options are there for her, bearing in mind she wants Nokia, Nokia and Nokia!

Ah, you can ninja edit too, well done :P what makes the N900 so specialist though? She wants a good camera, browser, Skype = big bonus, music playback, and possibly the odd video.

I'm tech savvy enough to be confident enough that I can teach her about the phone.

I think this is a fairly good example of what the phone involves.
