I have a serious snacking addiction. Even after my meal I feel like snacking. How can I stop? I quit smoking years ago .... but nearly feel like starting again to stop the cravings.

I am finding low-fat cottage cheese to be AMAZING. Seriously, it really does fill you up!

I second cottage cheese. If you are a constant nibbler, try a small packet of seeds (Munchy seeds or Good4U) so you can snack over a long period.

Interesting .... I would have thought Cottage Cheese was a no no for a dieter!!!!!!

Cottage cheese is high protein, low fat, low carb, and very filling. It's a dieter's dream.

Can anyone recommend a nice cottage cheese brand and where I can buy it? I've heard great things about it too.
Also has anyone any interesting (yet not too complicated) ideas for foods to have along with the cottage cheese, I think I'd find it pretty boring as is :)

I just use the Yoplait low-fat one!

Well, I sometimes have Weetabix, pour just an itsy bitsy bit of boiled water on it to soggify it (yes, soggify is the technical term), then throw on my cottage cheese and fruit of choice! Yum!

I generally have it with poached eggs, sundried tomatoes or normal tomatoes, cucumber or mixed herbs.

I think the yopliat low fat one tastes like cack in comparison to Lidls regular cottage cheese. Now that's a really creamy cottage cheese and 26gms protein for 200gm tub. Win!

Cottage cheese is definitely the dieters dream. I go for the regular fat one rather than the low fat one. The difference in calories is minimal but less carbs (milk sugars) in the regular fat one.

I mix a cup ful with a flavoured yoghurt & sprinkle a little bit of muesli on top to give a bit of crunch. Great brekkie, tons of protein

Another girl I knew used to get wholegrain pitta bread chips (don't know where to get these but I assume you just toast some pitta bread) and dipped it in the cottage cheese.

I think Lidl seems the winner :D gonna drop in there today and see what I can get.
I think I read somewhere about mixing cottage cheese with jelly, has anyone done that? Is it nice?

I like the Lidl one, but you should definitely check out the Polish shops, they have amazing cottage cheese, and also in different fat percentages, so some of them taste really rich and decadent.

I make a CC dessert, by dissolving a sachet of SF in 1/3 pint hot water and stirring. Mix a tub of cottage cheese with half the liquid and blend in the liquidizer until it's smooth. Add the rest of the jelly liquid and and a tray of icecubes and blend until there is no ice rattling. Pour into about four dishes and chill. It's all light and mousse-y and doesn't taste in the least healthy.

That sounds so yummy! Any Polish brands I should look out for?

    Just see what they have.

Are you eating high carb meals? I find I always feel like snacking if there isn't much fat and protein in a meal.

Is CC nice? Is it like any other cheese out there? Is it expensive?

Its very cheap, I'm not a fan of it on its own but its not bad. Its fairly bland although the texture is odd at first.

You'll find it in the milk section of the shops, it's sold in tubs, not blocks. Looks a bit like very lumpy cream or something like that. The texture is what gives it a bad reputation, but I like it. It's quite bland, you can use it in lots of recipes and mixtures.

I just tried the Tesco Light Choices (I think that's what it was called!) cottage cheese ... it's cheaper than the Yoplait one, it's actually much nicer, AND it's lower in calories!

Will be stocking up on some cottage cheese tomorrow on the way home from work. Alas, my local Tesco is a complete kip, and I think they only carry the Yoplait one

If that's all they have, I'll have to jazz it up a little. I'm tempted to try throwing a few jalapenos into the tub, but I'm guessing the preserved ones are a Neddy-no-no?

I made this earlier with a strawberry SF jelly and cottage cheese, and it came out so well. It tasted like something so unhealthy and bad for you - absolultely yummy. Thanks Eileen for passing this along. I have been converted!

I remember when I used to eat cottage cheese I got a really nice one from Tesco, it had chives in it and I remember thinking it was lovely compared to the normal cottage cheese, which I was never a big fan of.

Started adding it to my salads this week, a tablespoon full. I should probably add more. It's not bad at all. I am quite surprised.
