3 weeks solo travel in Sept - staycation or UK or Europe?

    Hi all,

I'm taking a few weeks off in September, hoping for a really relaxing, chill out/recover break.
Had initially thought of going to maybe France or Spain, finding a quiet enough town on the coast & just chilling out.
However due to ash cloud & not bring a car with me,(would not feel confident driving on the other side of road) I am now considering a staycation instead. Risks are weather & cost of Ireland. But then there are a lot of places I've never been to in my own country, so it could be nice......

Alternatively, maybe a ferry to Wales with the car would be a better idea?

Basically, I can't find reasonably priced longer term accommodation in areas like Cornwall/Devon/Newquay, and as I dont know the area at all then I dont know where else to try.

The definite requirements are: Seaside town, with a few places to eat out & which has a friendly vibe. I will be unlikely to be going out to pubs/clubs as I'll be on my own & am not that in to pubs anyway.

Can anyone help?! I really really need a break & dont want to make the wrong choice!
