2 to 3 months for legal conveyancing , assuming its all finished, i presume you did the snagging, inspected it for any small things like cracks in the plaster.is the builder still in business.MANY new schemes have been taken over by the bank,ie building company gone out of business.

2-3 months for conveyancing on a new house :eek: do you actually know what conveyancing is ??

OP ignore the above post. If it s anew build thats complete and assuming your an FTB and have no chain. You should be able to complete in approx 6 weeks.

is it a new house, with no chain ? exactly ......

and if it is then your solicitor is a lazy sod

    I'm waiting 6 months.

The snag has held things up, and the solicitor on the other side is nigh on impossible to get in touch with.

It is a new house and no chain.
Solicitor says that we need indemnity for 6 years, but vendor could give us only 4 years as 2 years already gone. Is that a problem?

assume your referring to Homebond ? if so the longer the better in terms of cover.

We were waiting nearly 4 months to sign contracts and because of something the vendor wouldnt do legally we had to let it go.

We're now in the process of getting another house and its been 6 weeks since we put down deposit, and still no contracts.

In an ideal world, with both sets of solicitors 'singing off the same sheet', and all Certs done by vendor, and nothing major in snag list, then it might take only 6 weeks............
    Best of luck OP
