Is it legal to charge me for a proof of named driver's insurance?
My broker is asking for 25 euro for that.

Charges from a broker have to be contained in a Terms of Business statement which they are obliged to provide you with at the inception or renewal of a policy.

Is it Britton or 123.ie by any chance? They seem to charge extra for anything, and its normally listed in their T&Cs afair

My understanding is that brokers are paid comission on policies by the insurance companies. If I had to pay €25 to a broker for a single A4 printed page you can be quite sure I would never darken their door again.

You already agreed to them charging this when you took out the policy why shouldn't they? It's not their fault you, or the OP, don't read everything that's been sent to you.
I would never darken their door again.

You've already left them if you're looking for proof of NCB or named driver no claims as you wouldn't need it if you got a policy with them.

Another way of looking at it is from the Ryanair business model. There is a cost involved in them getting this A4 piece of paper. For the vast majority of people this isn't needed as they will get their NCB proof with their renewal letter. Why should these people have the cost loaded onto their policy for something that they won't ever need?

but if you are paying €500 them quid less than anyone else for insurance from them isn't it worth it?

Not necessarily, my mum is named driver on my dads car, she recently got her own car and need proof of named driver no claims, however she is still insured on dads car as named driver.

    Thanks for the info!
Just wanted to know is this a normal policy.
    It's britton insurance.

I'm only afraid I'll have to pay this amount two times because I switched insurer after one year. I don't think they keep track of the no claims bonus for the named drivers, do they?
