Neuropathic Pain

I had problems with the gum at a crowned root filled tooth which was eventually extracted. I still have pain in the gum, although the dentist believes that the gum has entirely healed. He thinks this could be Neuropathic Pain, analogous to the pain that some people still feel in amputated limbs. This isn't very welcome news, as you might imagine, as I clearly expected that curing the infection would solve the pain problem.

Has anyone any knowledge of such things.

there are a few specialists in orofacial pain in Ireland, you could ask your dentist for a referral.

That seems to be the next step.

There are some good treatments for this problem. Defo go see a facial pain specialist there are at least two I know of one in dublin and one in cork. Its a very specialized area.
