In terms of real battle the US Open is the hardest one to win.

Still give Harrington a chance in this competition in it cause of that reason alone.

no shottracker again for a major.... man that sucks ass.

i'll be delighted if he makes the cut!!

westwood surely has to have a serious crack at this one.. without fumbling thru the last 3-4 holes.

Does anyone know how to turn of the Player Watch on Sky Sports? It seems I can only see Tiger Woods when he's playing and hardly anybody else

Lads, if you go to www.usopen.com there's a thing there on the right called play tracker. It's like shotracker but doesn't seem to be quite as detailed.Might be useful to some of ye anyway.

Yeah it's not bad, from what i can make of it looks like harrington chipped in for birdie on second.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,729 ✭✭✭Speak Now

They've made changes already, he didn't chip in.
Went from hitting 1/2 greens to 3/3 :D

Ah sure that's no worse than Shotracker!I was looking at it the other week during Memorial and it was telling me at one point that Tiger had just hit a 450 yard drive straight onto the green.;)

cheers dude... lovely colours... without actual realtime content or any really useful content that you cant get from a leaderboard... yep... must have taken months of programming and a billion $$$ to wheel out this excercise in futility.

still tho... beggars cant be choosers..... if i was deaf & blind it would be almost like being there! so it has its merits.

thanks again for wasting my time and the time of the firm i work for.

David Howell on sky just now referring to Westwood's win last week. 'It's great to see, such a long time since a European winner on the PGA Tour'.
Eh, there's been 3 European winners on the PGA tour this season.:rolleyes:

Yeah hopefully people will count to ten or something. In fairness though Pad can be hard to watch sometimes - combining the sublime with the...eeeh brutal. Thought he putted very well yesterday and holed a few long ones for par. Hope he gets the ole game face on today and can grind out a score to keep in with a shout over the weekend.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,543 ✭✭✭JerryHandbag

73 is a good score for Paddy considering only 69 is leading. Had a bad 2nd round last week though, so today is vital to stay in the hunt.

    yep agreed!

a good solid start is vital. a 70 today would be just peachy.

but who knows... the leader this evening could be +1... its one hell of a test. they all look a little shell shocked out there!

Wouldn't rule anyone out yet at all.Especially if the wind gets up there over the weekend, could be a fairly high winning score.

more wind would be class! i love to see the pro's get hammered by wind and maintain theyre swing/stance/timing... it amazes me - knowing id be hopeless. its a surefire way of getting a true champion.

the drying greens looked treacherous for the evening rounds.... tiger, from the transcript of his press conf., wasnt too happy out there. still he's doing well enough to keep in touch.
Westwoods much vaunted physique did him feck all good... the short comings in his short game will surely be evident again today. they make a compelling 3ball with Els... quality tv.

poulter looks ( like a toolbag ) like he's done some work with the short stick.

    another late nite beckons..... woohoo!

    compared to villegas ( +7 ), Ogilvy (+8 ), Mahan (+7), cabrera ( +4) and even Lefty ( +4) .... he did a great job out there!

people who think podge is crap are idiots frankly - cleary havent a notion of how hot & cold golfers can be from wknd to wknd never mind day to day... or because he's one of our own they dismiss him as a fluke or an idiot with that negative irish mindset that deserves a good kicking.

gets on my tits i have to say.

the only problem i have with the guy is his teeth... the dudes going to bite off half his own head in the backswing one of these days. the lad could eat an apple through a tennis racket. and his walk... he should wear a stetson for the crack!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,729 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Doubt anyone really thinks Paddy is crap, just lads talking through their pocket after he throws in one of his triple bogeys.

Sure looks like it...last time at Pebble Beach was so misleading, most of guys on leaderboard were like 4, 5, 6 over par, which is what I'd expect the winning score to be, and yet there was Tiger on 12 under!! Ridiculous....he wont be doing that this week tho thats for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

the course set up this time around has been entirely more severe.

"I feel like I'm in the form of my life right now and I really feel I have a big event in me."

Prophetic words from Graeme McDowell after his win at Celtic Manor?

I know he has a history of starting fast and fading at majors but I've got a good feeling that that won't be the case this time...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 751 ✭✭✭BiffoGooner

He's been impressive alright, playing the course very cleverly.

Rory at +10 is a bit surprising but you really do need every bit of experience and guile possible on a course like that, he'll learn a lot from this week regardless.

Don't think inexperience is the only reason, Biffo. His decision to play touraments in a row has got to be questioned. I know he's got to play the fifteen but he's clearly tired.

Maybe so, but he's just turned 21, he should have bags of energy.I mean, Lee Westwood played last week, had the added pressure of contending, the extra playoff holes and the excitement of winning and he's not playing half as bad as Rory.So I can't see tiredness being the only reason for the poor performance tbh.

agrree totally, you go around in 70 ish strokes, how many balls does he hit on a daily basis, couple of hundred?so if he was tired he would just ease off on the practice a bit,
tirdness not a valid excuse at all,it's the u.s open, when you think about it racking up +10 isn't actually that hard with the state of those greens,he likes to lash in his short putts ala Rob Karlson and i'm thinkin that's not best suited to these greens, normally takin the break out works but according to Tiger you try to do that it bobbles and stays off line then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,844 ✭✭✭Jimdagym

Casey has played some nice golf the last couple of weeks and is sitting level after 2 rounds. Would love to see him or even Donald pick up a major. Assuming G McD does not win, of course.

Well if noen the Irish lads win I want Els to win cause I have him backed. He could very well be on -5 he played well yesterday and just did not score and got few bad breaks like at 17.

Still early days, you cant win it after round 2 but you sure can loose it

Cmon Lefty. Only for the money. Choi I grabbed for a top 5 at 15-1 as well but he's not having a good day today.

But the real winner is the $%&*ing ads!!!! I got home from the pub at 10:30 and watched three sets of ads before 11:00. **** that - I'm off to play Eve. 12 mins of ads in 30 - I'm cancelling Sky Sports again if they keep up that crap.

And just as I'm about to hit reply - another set of ads
