be very careful with expedia, ive had horrible hassle with them

cust service is woeful if u need to change anything

plus keep checking ur flight details on the AIRLINES website with the airline ref they give u, they can change without notice..

they auto updated my return flight from SFO to dublin which was originally via toronto to now to to chicago-toronto-dublin

with our flight from chicago-toronto arriving 9 minutes after our flight from torotno-dublin left

3 hours later i finally got it resolved

spent 7 hours on the phone to them the day i booked it cos i put the wrong last name as one of the passengers, got it changed eventually but they said if i hadnt rang str8 away it wud have been impossible to amend... well dodgey characters expedia are....

This may prove a problem with the return flight as I will be working in Japan for a few months. Any other recommendations?

    Expedia.ie is useless.

I was checking dublin to casablance in september and expedia.ie prices are triple what i'm getting elsewhere.

Not only that but If you try expedia.com with identical criteria the prices (in $) are half. And they're different flights connecting in different places. wtf???

The problem would be if they kept changing flight details. Yes the flights are different and better with expedia.com, with expedia.ie, there is 1 less stopover ( narita). Any verification if Ireland users can purchase off the .com website?

    1. It's not Expedia that change the flight details but the airlines. Nothing to do with Expedia which is probably the biggest and most trusted of the Internet travel agents.

    2. No idea, give it a go and see if it accepts your card :)

    +1

Expedia don't change flight times and are very efficient at notifying you when the airline does.

Yes, of course Irish users can purchase from the .com site.

Thats good to know because its says 'shoppers living in Rep. of Ireland who visit Expedia's U.S. site may not be able to purchase airline tickets or holidays'.

The .com website seems to be better the .ie website. Booking a flight from dublin to kanai international, theres always a stopover at narita airport before kansai which is strange.

That's a new thing. In that case use kayak.com or Orbitz. You should get the same prices (or lower) than expedia.com.

I have been going through a number of websites mentioned and found skyscanner to be decent. But I will be using the air france website to book my flights, reason is because with them, one less stopover then other airlines and that there is not much difference in price between them and skyscanner.

So I have booked a hotel with Expedia and have received a travel confirmation email from them saying that the Hotel is reserved. Just wondering if you get a second e-mail confirmation, when the hotel itself has confirmed your stay or do I have to ring them up?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ponster

You won't get a second e-mail, nor will you have to call the hotel. The first e-mail counts as the confirmation.

So there should be no problems then? Just wondering because I was reading other complaints from customers saying that when they arrived at there hotel of choice the hotel never received reservations from Expedia.

No harm in calling the hotel if you like though what you are reading are I'm sure the rare exceptions.
