515's Booking Policy

Just saw a thread for Andrew Weatherall playing in Galway I think and its presented by 515. Does that absolute lack of imagination by 515 annoy anyone else?

By that I mean booking djs only after someone else has booked them before. Raresh,Seth Troxler, Andrew Weatherall, Format B, Chymera, Donnacha Costello. They never seem to bring over ground breaking or new acts. They just seem to leave it to the smaller nights to put them on then after its been popular book them for the Pod.

Its annoying to see when you have promoters like Bodytonic doing a great forward thinking job on their booking policy and 515 just piggyback all the other promoters.

    Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

    bigger overheads = bigger risk

And believe me, they have made serious losses with some not so risky bookings that seemed like dead certs to be jammers.

Yeah they're treading on thin ice at this stage and are just looking to fill the place I'd say. I'm suprised we haven't seen a few ''Godskitchen'' type affairs tbh.

Pygmallion on the other hand - some lads who seriously know their music and take risks; best small residency in Dublin at this stage, bar the venue which I hate.

They have a few sweet bookings lined up over the coming months. It's EXTREMELY hard to run gigs in Galway, and the venue is relatively small also. Fair play to them tbh.

Galway's a nightmare to run gigs in, or so I'm told...

Jesus, really? Serious live music going on there all the time, including the odd one like Philip Glass and that during the summer, well aware it pretty much shuts down by midnight though; kinda bizarre in a way but great houseparty scene :D
