Aer Lingus / United out-of-whack pricing?

    We just booked our trip going from Minneapolis <-> Dublin. If we booked on Aer Lingus site with United as the partner for Minneapolis <-> Chicago, that leg of the journey costs $900 whereas booking direct on pretty much any airline for Minneapolis <-> Chicago is about $200.

    Has anyone else experienced this sort of pricing issues? It seems very odd to me as I would have expected a partnered flight to be at or below market prices for the route.

    Are the details correct. One flight is MSP - DUB, the other just MSP - ORD.

    Yes, the details are correct, but I could have made them clearer.

    Specifically,

    MSP->ORD->DUB->SHN / DUB->ORD->MSP on AL/United was about $1850
    ORD->DUB->SHN / DUB->ORD on AL was about $950
    MSP->ORD / ORD->MSP on just about any other airline was about $200

    Needless to say we went with the little bit of added inconvenience and booked MSP<->ORD on another airline (since it was $750 cheaper per ticket). I was rather surprised that United charged such a ridiculously high price when booked through AL.
