Ulster bring their compliment of Saffers to 4 with the signing of Pedrie Wannenburg. Difficiult to know what the thinking of the management is on this one.

We have plenty of young back rowers in Ireland who won't get regular games next year and so this seems like a poor signing.

I'd imagine they're trying to introduce a bit of the Saffer never say die attitude into Ulster rugby. Ulster for all their talent have no backbone when things are going against them. In fairness you guys have signed a few south africans in the past and they've all worked out well I think.

As poster above points out, Ulster lack a hard edge at times. Wannenburg will bring loads of experience with im and a serious physical presence. Will bring best out of ferris et al. Good signing so long as no cliques develop. Ulster will have a serious team next season, it could be a break through year for them. Bit under resourced at FB maybe? Although Smith looks useful.

Fez will miss a lot of games with Ireland.

You've got Pollock, Falloon and Henry, all of whom have talent, but most of whom lack a little bit of power and aggression. A big nasty Saffer could be a good foil for the more subtle efforts of the others.
