Pushing my newPing Rapture V2 driver to the right

Play off 9 & considered driving the strongest part of my game.

Changed driver a couple of weeks ago. Had a Ping G5 stiff 9 degree. Went to a Ping Rapture V2 stiff 10.5 degree.

Didn't think there would be any major problem.

Hit the first couple of drives long with a slight draw & was impressed.

Suddenly I started pushing my drives out to the right, sometimes miles right.

I'm not talking about a slice, the ball is going straight right.

I'm wondering, is it possible that the new shaft, Diamante stiff, is a lot stiffer than the shaft on my G5 and this is the cause of my pushing it right?

Any opinions taken on board. :)

If youre swinging the same, i suggest (if you can) that you try and get your hands on the old club again or a similar club with the same shaft and see how you hit it. Our pro is pretty relaxed about these things, so hopefully you have the same resource. Just take it out for a round or two.

Sounds like the shaft on your new machine is stiffer and you are therefore not getting the clubface through to square at impact - often the case when using a shaft that is too stiff for your swingspeed.

    Swing harder ;-)

Grip the club tighter and swing harder and faster.

Try turning your right hand over coming through I find it works for me.

Oh yeah just thought of another little tip, try incorporating a corkscrew type shape at the top of your backswing a la Eamon Darcy and you'll be on tour in no time.

Do not grip the club tighter. This will cause all sorts of headaches.

When asked how to identify the most common fault for weekend shankers, Nicklaus replied.

"Just before you hit the ball, grip the club as tight as you can. You'll find you can't get grip it any tighter"

So loose grip throughout the swing. Speed, of course. But speed generated through the proper method.

Rule of thumb is to be able to grip a tube of open toothpaste without letting any squeeze out.

I had a similar issue when I had upgraded a Taylor Made driver.
It ended up been the actual grip of the driver not been fitted correctly which made my grip ever so slightly different.
