Equipment -Total Fitness Clarehall

I have been a member of Total Fitness for less then a year and to be honest I strongly feel I won't be renewing. Is it me or is the equipment there really old, rusty and damaged particularly compared to other gyms? I see more and more machines broken each week. I went to the manager on Saturday to see if some could be replaced or repaired. I know the guy is not very approachable at the best of times but it was quite obvious from his look that my request was "annoying" him. He made it quite clear that none of the machines would be replaced and that since it was checked every week he was pretty sure it was all up to standard but he'll have a look. He then turned back to his email before I had a chance to talk. After seeing some of the rowing machines and some of the resistance machines broken I thought I had to say something. I am wondering should I make my thoughts made to the managing director or is there any point? Has anybody noticed the equipment or did i meet the manager on a bad day?

The trick is to remember which equipment is Fcuked and avoid them :)

In all seriousness, there will always be stuff broken and it does get fixed eventually, but it seems like they are leaving the repair intervals longer than usual lately.

Oh and Des can be prick to deal with sometimes, so a polite email to the MD mightn't hurt, but don't expect miracles.

I've never had to deal with the manager, but might find reason to now - I love putting a prick in his place

Anyway, I've been a member since the day it opened. Whats that?, about 10 yrs now?.

It goes through periods where equipment falls into disrepair, but generally I do think its the best gym in the area.. Apart from the god damned price!.

Your alternative is Northwood, its half the price but good luck with training there and thats all I'll say!.

The days when TF was worth €598 are gone for a lot of us.

Does anyone know of any deals going in Northwood if you sign up as 2 or 3 people. Op I would be interested in joining this gym?

I will be joining a new gym in September when the membership runs out in Total Fitness. I don't mind paying a couple of hundred extra as long as the equipment is up to standard which it ain't there. Btw Nate you advised me don't expect miracles when I write to the chief executive. You are right. It is over 2 weeks ago that I wrote to him by email and he still has not written back! Shows how much Total Fitness care about customer complaints!!

Yeah, I completely agree. Ive never dealt with the Manager before but when you see a place that lacking with stuff like anti-bac dispensers empty for Months on end, broken machines left and right and stuff getting nicked from lockers ... i just switched Gyms and warned everyone I knew off the place.

Thanks Martian Martin. At least I know that I am not getting paranoid that it is only myself who was thinking the equipment was dodgy. If you don't mind me asking where did you move to and is the equipment etc better? (maybe a stupid question because the customer service/equipment could not be much worse!!!!!)
