Hi all, was in specsavers today looking for sunnies. I found the selection dreadful as I'm looking for big round frames (see bugeye image pls )

Has any1 purchased prescription sunglasses like this? Most of there stock were like this (square attach) and they just don't float my boat.

I need frames that have a thick arm that will hide a thick lens..

Any glasses wearers have any suggestions where I'd find some ??

Would like advice on this too! I heard about buying them online but you need to get the prescription from your opticians.

http://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/products/sunglasses/ is what I've been looking at, limited choice though (you'll see buy with prescription)

I am 99% sure my optician has prescription sunglasses in this style: https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/199503/116964.jpg

My optician is Brendan Egan, Mullingar.

    Good luck.

When I needed prescription sunglasses I used to go to McNallys on the Green. They are brilliant opticians, really professional and have a fantastic selection of frames. My eye sight (pre laser surgery) was really bad and so my lenses would have been really thick, I did pay extra to have them consensed though to make them slimmer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have dealt with Specsavers for the last 12 yrs so I think it's time for me to branch out !!

Am based in Carlow so so looking to get them some where local maybe kildare, kilkenny etc.
Not sure about buying online 'cos I'd be fussy enough! Would need to try on!

I've def seen the ones your after in Mullins & Henry. I didn't find frames I liked with them before so I bought my own online & kept the receipts to have proof incase they asked were they mine, as I had heard a lot of opticians do ask.

Well they never asked me & fitted the lenses to the frames, so if you do come across the frames you like & know are the right shape & measurements you'll def get the lenses fitted for you.

If you are looking for a way to spice up your prescription sunglasses then you will want to look at the wide array of options available for designer frames for sunglasses and prescription sunglasses. You can often choose to add designer glasses right at the ophthalmologist, but if you don’t then you can still get them changed over to new frames anytime.

Take a look at the specsaver site. I found the frames I liked on it. Took note of the code and my local branch ordered them for me. They had horrible ones instore.
