If you have Edco exam papers it categorises the papers into sections to come up on each paper. Such as farm accounts will not come up on paper 2, only paper 1

Anyone else notice the mistake in question 6?? Huge mistake by the SEC , VP rang the dept. And they said anyone who did the question WILL be compensated :D

*Looks proud* I was the one who told the supervisior about it and he had to tell the others... I just changed the figures around though so that mine worked out anyway so 40marks for me \o/

That paper was perfect, Im just crap at Business, the first paper was nice iswell. Really cant complain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 402 ✭✭Tommyrawr

what was the mistake in Q6?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 7,849 Mod ✭✭✭✭suitcasepink

Ermm trying to think how to explain it.. In the cash flow account the numbers that were printed in, the total for April I think was wrong, so the net cash was wrong iswell..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,014 ✭✭✭Colm!

Good paper! Except for the Cash Flow forecast. And I might have lost a few marks on TP&L. Can't really compare it to P1 though. P1 was waaay easier.

I've always been crap at doing balance sheeys, and for the first time ever, it balanced for me :D

Yeah, that was a really big mistake on behalf of the SEC, I didn't cop it until I spent about 40 minutes on the question >:[

Overall though, I think it went really well, aside from my massive hayfever attack halfway through :(

for the final accounts did anyone get a balancing figure of 633600
and for the business docunments did anyone get for the statement of account the end of it 3290 ?

That's good, I noticed it yet my Superintendent didn't do anything. Just said to write it beside the Q. Good to know we will be compensated, no need for my safety question then

Loved paper 2, and paper 1, hopefully I kept my A from the mocks :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭Jackobyte

Did the Ledger question(balanced to €362490), the documents question(I got €3290 for the statement), the trading profit and loss appropriation a/c (balanced to €633600) and the delivery systems question(I got €329 for total cost per day).

I was the one who noticed too.. although we were told to continue with the figures we had as they could no penalise us for their stupid mistake :)) Paper two was lovely.. paper one was a bit **** tho :/

Yesyesyes! I did! Phew, theres 35 marks in the bag.
    I think I got 3290 too, but I didn't write it down.

Though unfortunetly, I didn't notice the mistake in Q6, but I did an extra question, so I should be ok.
    Yaaaaaay!:D

That was a truly awful mistake, just looking at it now.

    69000 there instead of 39500?

i did that q and noticed the mistake and my supervisor told us just to change it and leave a note beside it saying that there was a mistake and the corrector should understand

Full marks? But that means its a much easier marking scheme then if you didn;t attempt it...
Like I did it and all (didn't notice the mistake!:P) but I doubt that we'll all get full marks.

That's the one. I didn't notice it!!! I'm real worried now, I desperately wanted an A!?! Will I still get all the marks if I didn't notice it, but still did it right?:(

    Same ><
Thankfull I was finished but I had to leave before I was finished checking because I felt so crap and had no meds in with me!

Our invigilators wouldn't do anything about the messe up q6! It was so stupid1 i saw it in the first 5minutes of the exam because it was the first question I did but i know people who spent half an hour or more trying to figure out where they went wrong!
How can they tell s to check OUR work when they don't check theirs properly...

Relax :) In business you need 340 marks to get an A, you could have left a whole long question out and still got it. This small mistake shall be fine ;)

I spotted the error first in our group of centres and told the Superintendent. She asked our Exam Secretary who contacted the SEC.

They first said to change it to 39,500, but then came back saying to leave it the way it is if you hadn't done it. They also had not figured out what they had done with the addresses in the document question either and we're attempting to sort it. (Stupid plonkers.)

The problem with changing it was that it affected the figures below it as well. The impression I got from my Superintendent was that if you changed it or left it, regardless of whether it worked out, once you had the correct 'method', you would get full marks. (Score!)

But it's ridiculous that not only did they get the date wrong on the FRONT of one of the papers, they also got a date wrong in Paper II, Question Four as well as wrong figures galore in the Cashflow forecast. On TOP of that, they mixed up the addresses in the Documents question.

They expect us to be able to balance this and get that and they can't even do an exam paper? Ridiculous.

    Ed.

Yea, I thought there was a mix up in the document questions with the address also. What exactly was the mistake, can you remember?:o

The invigilators at my school said they weren't allowed to advise us on how to do the question, but either way the marking scheme would be adjusted...I wrote a note on it, circling the TWO separately wrong figures (first the 69000, then (29500)....sorry in what universe is 40000-69000 (29500)??? probs the same universe where they don't realise that one column should effectively be a carbon copy of the other, til the opening/closing cash parts...) and was like 'Sorry, this should balance but doesn't because of a printed error'. I used the figure from the totals column for the C part, because that one should have been correct at least :L

Anyway, I thought the SAQs were a little tough, but you only need 68/80 for 85% anyway...I did the Inflation question but probs got around 32 for it...paper one didn't go as well as it should have for me...Paper two was fantastic though! my Q1 (books of first entry) balanced fully, as did Q4 (final accounts), the delivery systems q was piss and Q6 will be marked easily now ^_^ I was hovering around the high B/low A mark for Paper One, but I really think Paper Two will have brought me up now...as it did in the Mock :)

As far as I remember, the business was sending the receipt or statement to their own address, not their creditor's :p

Yes, as far as I can remember, KEOGH Ltd. were supposed to be sending the statement to the address given for HOGAN Ltd., but that same address was already listed on the statement as the address it was to be sent from. Something like that anyway.
The invigilators at my school said they weren't allowed to advise us on how to do the question, but either way the marking scheme would be adjusted...

As I said, my Superintendant only took note of it but DID NOT comment either. She instead reported it to the Exam Secretary who contacted the SEC. The SEC then provided changes, and then changes to the changes. God help us.
i changed it and then did it but i didnt leave a note to the examiner
    will i be ok :(

I was told there would be accommodations made for everyone once you had the correct method.

I did five questions but messed up two of them kinda, the statement & balance sheet. :\

Still hoping for an A overall though.

Relax! They only gave you one address. So unless you concocted another one, you should be fine.

(If you did the above, then what I say next doesn't pose any problems... they had already put this address above the space where you were supposed to put the address as if this was where it was coming from. So essentially, you would have the same to and from addresses.)

though paper 2 was simple :) just for the mess-up by the SEC it would have been perfect but sure how bad!
