    Hi,

Have been looking to purchase a new car and have recently been looking at the Mazda 6 1.8 touring model which I like but haven't been able to find one that meets all my criteria.

While looking at Carzone today, I saw this Seat Toledo:

(Seem to get a decent review from www.parkers.co.uk without being spectacular)

What are peoples experiences with these, good or bad or would you advise sticking with the Mazda 6 and waiting it out until one comes along that matches what I am looking for.

The price of that car is nuts.

Mazda would be a better buy, those Toledo's are also cramped in the back

Yeah, haven't had a chance to look at one yet. Have only been looking at Mazda 6's up to now.

Is the Toledo very small in the back?? Didn't think they looked that small.

That Toledo is Seat's version of the MkIV Golf / Bora so it is a class smaller than the Mazda 6 and is also a much older design. I've never been in the back of one but the VW equivalents aren't that hot on rear space so I doubt the Seat would be any different.

What year is the Mazda 6? Doesn't really matter tbh, I'd go with the Mazda every time. One of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. It aint as pokey as cars in a similar class but the comfort is worth it.

im driving my second seat toledo. had a 99 first and only switched up to a 04 a few months ago. Parked the old one at home with over 200k miles on the clock and its still perfect. once you keep them serviced they dont give much trouble. the toledo uses the same running gear as the audi A3 so you know its good quality without the added expense of the audi badge on the front.

I drive the 1.9 TDI model so i cant give any opinion of the 1.6 petrol. It'll probably be a little under powered as the toledo is a good solid car and pretty heavy.

Ive had loads of lads sit in the back of the toledo and they never had any trouble with leg room and i carry the golf clubs and the trolley around with me constantly in the boot without any troubles.

    Best of luck with it.

Thinking of looking at this one today but price seems a little high. What do ye think?

I'd be curious as to why it has miles clocks (going by the fact that 49,000miles even were entered) and it's not a UK import.

Other than that it is a tad overpriced, not much though. If you're not trading in ring and find out the straight deal discount and warranty.

Took it for a spin at lunch. Nice car to drive. One major problem for me is that the only service history it has is after 10,000 kilometres and then nothing after that..........currently 80,000 on the car (49,000 miles).

Other than that and it being a little over my budget, it seems like a nice car.

What are your thoughts on buying without a service history?

Arah it depends really. You'll know by the feel and the look of the car whether it was looked after or not, get an independent mechanic to look at it if you don't trust it yourself.

    Is the mileage exactly 80,000kms?

Edit: There's no online history of the mileage either, everything checks out.

    Think it was 80,500km.

Yeah, was a nice car to drive, seemed to be a nice bit of power in it and the low mileage is always good. No bad scratches / rust either.

Unfortunately, he is not budging much on the price and is a little over my budget so will have to do the sums again.

Don't really understand this. Do you mean to get a check done, ie. Cartell or have you checked somewhere???

No I did a check for you. Everything is coming up clear.

Did you get a straight deal price?

Edit: I didn't see your last post. What are you willing to pay for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 182 ✭✭Dools2007

Was looking at cheaper (ie. older or higher mileage cars (approx 5,000 - 6,000) originally but 7,500 - 8,000 would be as much as I could stretch for this one.

Will have to wait it out and see.

Straight deal price of €8,750. Think this is too high for me especially considering there is no service history on the car after 10,000km.

Might take a look at this one today which is getting a little bit closer to my price range although would still be hoping to get the price down to closer to €7,000. Do you think this would be a good offer?

You mention in your post above that you did a check for me on the car in AS cars in Ballymount. Can you tell me where you did this check and is it possible to do this for other cars that I may be looking at.
