contract finished in 2 weeks

I work for a large company,

my 3rd 12 month contract is due to finish on the 2nd of July, I have flagged this with HR and my manager, but have not gotten any response.

There have been redundencies at my company.

My contract does not mention the company providing me any notice in case of non renewal.

But should i legally be intitled to some notification?

Should I tell the company that I will not be turning up for work after the 2nd of July, because i have no contract? and no security pass (it will be out of date).

After 3 years full time, I am fed up with this treatment.

    Any suggestions welcome..

check out this link re fixed term workers

    http://www.unionconnect.ie/rights/5/

if there is a union in the place you should consult the union rep immediately

you are entitled to a written reason for the renewal of a contract on a fixed basis

you would probably be entitled to redundancy

if they fail to renew your contract but dont give you notice de facto they have renewed you into a fourth year

as this is going to be your 4th contract they will have to make your position/job role full time if they do offer you the contract with all the bell and whistles of a full time position ie no more renewals etc and the protection of the full rigors of the law etc.

if i were you i would turn up for work regardless

Actually you got notice of your expected end-date about 11 months ago. The only thing that's different now is that in the last few years you've been given additional notice about and extension.

One way to handle this is to say no more, but keep very careful records of any discussions where you boss says something that implies they expect you to be at work after 2 July. And continue to turn up until advised otherwise.

BUT, if the company is copped-on enough to kill your security pass, they probably won't fall for this.

As folks have said, after four years of renews of temp contracts, you become "permanent" (the last poster said "full time", but meant "permanent"). This makes me think that the company is unlikely to roll you over this time.

So if I were you, I'd be doing some serious job hunting. Sorry.
