Why are the 40 year old's included with those of us in our 30's? Speaking as someone desperately clinging to the last few months of 30-dom, I feel it unfair that those has-beens who have breached 40 should be given reprise. Let them be banished to their 40-45 category, and allow me wallow in the belief I can still cut it with the kids.
Now, who'll join me for some hedonistic drinking, loose morality, liberal voting; and other such youthful pastimes:)

As an elder statesman, my two "kids" have left the nest and I'm free to put my feet up anytime I get an evening off.

You can use this to your advantage by using the phrase "im doing it to look good and stay in shape for you" gets you off the hook 75% of the time
