Keep an eye on Honda and Hasebe for the Samurai Blue.

Can't see Japan doing much in this game, going for a Cameroon win.

Honda might be starting up front too, which boggles the mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 634 ✭✭✭pierrot

I've seen him at left back, left wing, and AM, but never up front
Like to see him in the center of midfield where he can pile forward. Saw him being interviewed by Nakata last week, he seems like a bit of a nutter and all.

Japan's recent form has been shocking, but all is not well in the Cameroon camp. Coin toss, this game.

Honda does indeed start up front for Japan.

1-0 to japan. 30 yard strike. other than that, yeah. borefest probably

This is going to be a horrible game I reckon

Cameroon to win to nil is 23/10 on paddy power. Japan are in terrible form, and with Kameni in goal and Eto'o up front, I'd be hopeful of that coming off.

Edit: Kameni on the bench. Oh well.

I'm looking forward to this game, actually.

    2-0 Cameroon.

    Watch out for Honda 50.

He looked the biz in the Champions league.

Tulio to score an OG for a third game running?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Bob the Seducer

Japan have been in terrible form recently, but they shouldn't have lost to England in their friendly at the end of last month.
Okazaki on the bench scored 15 international goals last year including a hat-trick against Togo, braces against Chile and Finland and goals against Belgium and Ghana.

I'm not convinced by today's starting line-up, think this one could finish a draw.

    Oh Adebayor.

I think Cameroon could smash Japan considering the awful form Japan are in.

    (Well I'm hoping so anyway :) )

Just as I thought this World Cup was going to be a Peter Collins free zone he shows up on commentary for this game. I'll be watching on the Beeb until half-time anyway!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,785 ✭✭✭✭Paul Tergat

Wasn't there some sort of issue over Etoo missing this game due to being sent off in the friendly before? Pretty sure I read something about it and was surprised to hear that he could be banned for this...?

This is by far the worst match of the tournament so far, and it's only 20 minutes in.

Absolutely nothing has happened. I'm watching it, but Im not even sure it's started yet. That's how bad it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭shano_88

Alex Song on the bench

In fairness, Peter Collins is commentating on it, it was doomed from the start..but these are the games that can go either way and hence must be watched just in case. 5-5 or 0-0..

    This is woeful.

ah yes, on a par with yesterdays Algeria -v- Slovenia game.

At least that had a nutter scaling the floodlights!

    Mark Lawrenson is enjoying this.

"The kids are rushng home to see this"
"There's a cricket ground behind the stadium. This is a great advertisement for it"

Amazing how many teams so far are choosing to be long-ball merchants, when it clearly doesn't work!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,973 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Japan no. 8 is fairly lively.

I don't understand why Japan want to send in high crosses.

    Wahey! A shot on target...
