    Armagh/Donegal tie of the round.

Antrim forwards could take the Kildare backs to the cleaners aswell. Bad draw for the lillies.

I reckon the following will win their games:

Wexford, Derry, Antrim, Offaly, Mayo, Armagh, Wicklow, Laois/Meath.

They do but don't travel or take part in it, I reckon it is because if some of their players were to leave the US they may get a 10 year ban ;) The New York Hurlers qualified for something before but had to forfeit as Down or some other team refused to travel to Gaelic Park in New York to play the fixture.

Some really strong teams in there, going to be some great games in the qualifiers this year.

    My predictions are,

    Wexford v London

    Carlow v Derry

    Kildare v Antrim

    Offaly v Clare

    Mayo v Longford

    Armagh v Donegal

    Cavan v Wicklow

    Tipperary v Laois/Meath

The weaker teams have home advantage which should cause a few upsets.

    My Predictions

    Wexford
v London (London V Carlow would be fairer)

    Carlow v Derry (A given)

Kildare v Antrim (quarter final material)

Offaly v Clare (this will be car crash stuff)

Mayo v Longford (I fancy Longford to bury any chances Mayo had)

Armagh v Donegal (Gruelling "puke" probably)

Cavan v Wicklow (Micklow will probably see poor old Cavan sink further in the doldrums)

Tipperary v Laois/Meath Meath will beat Tipp but I think Meath will take Laois whom Tipp will then take.

1.Wexford. Have more then enough in their locker to take out the annual whipping boys.

2.Derry. Confidence will be low, but they can beat one of the weakest teams of the weakest province.

3.Kildare. Antrim pose a threat, but I see Kildare returning to form in this on.

4.Offaly. Two poor teams. Offaly are just less poor !

5.Mayo. They can hang up their boots if they dont take out a struggling Longford team

6.Donegal. Armagh were badly exposed against Moneghan. Doengal were unlucky against Down.

7.Wicklow. Like Number 5 these are poor teams, just Wicklow would be less poor.

    8.The loser of Laois/Meath

Do they ?, I know that was the case a number of years ago but I have not heard anything about it this year

The venues will be decided tomorrow by all accounts.

I am sure it goes on where you finished in the league, its to give the weaker team some advantage. Correct me if I'm wrong...

The draw for the GAA Football All Ireland Senior Championship Round 1 Qualifiers was made this evening (First team listed has home advantage).

Please note that where a team is drawn away for the second year running, that team receives home advantage. Counties in todays draw that were drawn away in 2009 were Carlow, Armagh, Offaly, Tipperary, London & Longford.

    London v Wexford
    Carlow v Derry
    Kildare v Antrim
    Offaly v Clare
    Longford v Mayo
    Armagh v Donegal
    Cavan v Wicklow
    Tipperary v Meath/Laois

Ties to be played on Saturday, June 26.

CCCC will confirm venues and times on Monday.

were galway/new york and mayo/sligo and london/roscommon not the quarter finals with leitrim getting a bye to semi's

therefore semi line up being galway vs sligo and ros vs leitrim

with 3 losers being mayo london new york

yep -- that sounds right and i agree with you -- I'd to dig through facebook to see where i saw it--- it was on the Galway Advertisers page

"Did many people know that Galway would have been out of this year's championship had they lost to New York last Sunday as the fixture schedule does not have any provision for back-door entry for the losers of the Connacht SFC first-round tie. How close to a disaster did they come? And that was before they encountered the ash cloud."

The expense sounds like a more valid reason

It has nothing to do with preliminary rounds

The reason NY do not play qualifiers is cos they cannot really play away (immigration and all that).

The reason a Connaught team goes to NY each year is just something for the crowd over in NY to enjoy. As someone said earlier they went a won a Ulster Hurling Championship game back in 06 and there was all sorts of bother about what to do next

What was the outcome back in 06? did they just forfeit the next match? yeah sorry , I was wrong about the prelims, didnt remember the advertiser post correctly--

just to point out cork haven't won any game in this year's championship, they got a bye into the munster semi final which they lost. that bye turned out to be a bye into round 2 of the qualifiers as well. two byes for the price of one!!! the tipp footballers were also drawn against kerry in their first championship game of the year, if they had won they would still have been a game away from a munster final. because they lost they go into round 1 of the qualifiers to play laois or meath.

Oh jaysus, we are in for some hammering against Derry :(

Once I saw London drawn to play Wexford, that were our one hope of a win in qualifiers gone.
Still a game against Clare/Tipp/Offaly etc might have seen us in with some chance, but against Derry even tho it is at home we will be destroyed.

Our best player Brendan Murphy is suspended, 3 more of the regulars have gone to America for the summer. And I'd say the rest of the panel might join them after seeing the draw!!

So long as both teams had an equal chance of being awarded the bye (I assume they did?) then there is nothing unfair about this tbh.

Yeah, was confusing last year with this when we beat Waterford in the opening round.

It's an open draw so I'm not sure what your problem is.

same thing happens in connaught this year leitrim got the bye,its a complete open draw but i think its more a disadvantage as ur guaranteed to be playing a team that has a championship game already played while the team that got the bye hasnt played a competitive game since the league

London v Wexford- Wexford to win handy need a big win to get confidence up

Carlow v Derry- Derry will be too strong and breakaway in the end but its a long journey from Derry to Carlow.

Kildare v Antrim- Very close game but i think Kildare are a better team and will win.

Offaly v Clare- Offaly to win handy Clare are a very weak side.

Longford v Mayo- If Mayo show up on the day they could hammer Longford but i think Mayo could win if playing at 50% will not be an easy game for Mayo though.

Armagh v Donegal- Very close game but Donegal have more experince in the Qulifers

Cavan v Wicklow- A close game but home advantage could win it for Cavan.

Tipperary v Laois/Meath- Tipperary will put up a brave show but i think the loser of Loais/Meath could win it. Would not surprise me if Tipperary could win it.

    Football qualifiers round 1

Wexford v London - Easy enough for Wexford

Carlow v Derry - Derry should have too much for a bad Carlow team

Kildare v Antrim - Tricky one for Kildare. This could be close, but having home advantage in Newbridge should see Kildare edge it.

Offaly v Clare - Two poor teams. Offaly seem to have a phobia about the qualifiers, they will probably win this but go no further.

Mayo v Longford - If Mayo can pick themselves off the floor they ought to beat Longford. Won't be a pushover by any means though.

Armagh v Donegal - This is the draw both teams didn't want. Armagh were wretched against Monaghan so you'd have to fancy Donegal. But these Ulster clashes are very hard to predict. For all we know Armagh could bounce back.

Cavan v Wicklow - Home advantage was always going to be a factor here. Wicklow are very hard to beat in Aughrim , not so great otherwise. I'd say Cavan might shade this. Neither team has any real hopes of going much further though.

Tipperary v Laois/Meath - I'd fancy Meath to beat Laois, and if it's Tipp v Laois in Thurles there won't be alot in it. But the losers of Meath/Laois shoud come through. For all the progress Tipp have made the Kerry game showed that they're still a good bit short of the top teams. Laois aren't a top team but should still have a few points to spare.
