I hope I'm in the right forum for this! I'm planning on going abroad on a round the world (ish) trip in February/March time. I'm planning on doing a TEFL course before going over. But, would I be able to get a job whilst in Japan or would it be have to be arranged and planned in Ireland before I go over?

    Any help/advice would be appreciated.

    Hi Squeaky
Is Japan you country of choice? I spent 7 months in Seoul South Keora while doing my trip too. I wasnt very prepared and just landed there. I had a job within a week. However it is Very important that you bring your documents that you need for your working visa. (Degree, Garda check, Three copies of you degree results) I'd recomend just landing there. That way i was able to choose a good school, in a nice area and was able to talk to some of the teachers already teaching in that school to get a feel for the place.
    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the reply!

Did you actually do a TEFL course yourself? (you didn't specify!!) Would that be copies of exam results be my last year in college results or MA results? And the degree? My actual degree or just a copy?

Actually i never completed it. I began it and intended to complete it while traveling but never got around to it. Then i was never asked for it when i got these. My girlfriend didnt have it either and she worked for one of the big schools. So i dont think it is essential.
You will need three copies of Your degree results, so the last year's results. These have tio be in sealed envelops stamped by your college/University.

You'll need you actual degree or a photo copy that has been notarised and stamped by the korean embassy here.

You'll have to get all these whether you organise a job from here or get one there.

I know lot of hoops to jump through but if you want to save money to continue on your travels, i think korea is the place to be. Good wages and low cost of living.
