I bought a car in March this year.

    2002 Colt
Had NCT untill 2012, just been fully serviced etc for it.

Now, just a handful of months later, fanbelt issues, the brake pads are gone, and the gearbox/clutch is fooked on it!

I've contacted a said website to try and have a look at the ad that was up there as I feel this should not have happened.

I don't drive far at all, maybe 15-20 mins, 3 times a week.
So my point is, how it could have passed the NCT with these things creeping up or could it have?!

I'll prob sound a little mad but for some reason I think the parts we're changed for it to pass then changed back to krap ones after it did.

Reason for this is that I have a light that gets condensation in it and I don't think that that would pass an NCT, maybe I'm wrong.

Do I have any comeback at all as I bought it from a dealer?

What makes you think that they changed the parts?

The parts you refer to wear down faster than other parts other than tyres so having any comeback is highly unlikely.

Everybody drives differently. Some people ride the clutch therefore wearing down the system. Some people use the brakes a little too much and a little heavier than others. These things are normally excluded from warranties.

Get some brake pads. Two front pads will costs €20 and around €40-50 for somebody to fit them. Clutch parts can vary.

ya might be covered for gearbox trouble if ur still in warranty, the belt or brakes i doubt it though

whats wrong with the gearbox/clutch anyway

It all depends on what contract you have with the dealer so review your receipt.

To be honest, all of the items you mentioned are wear and tear... It doesn't matter how long you drive it, its how you drive it. If you've been riding the clutch for 3 months it won't survive. All of the parts may have been in sufficient order to pass the test 3months ago.

Brake pads and fan belts are consumables, they wear with use. They could have been fine at the time the car was NCT'd but now need to be replaced.

To be fair it is an 8 year old car, it's going to have worn parts!
