PDC Womens World Championship Barnsley

The last 32 of the Womens World Championship is taking place today alongside the players championship tournaments in Barnsley. Current PDC Pro Anastasia Dobromyslova will be 1 of the favourites to win this title but she faces stiff competition from fellow Russian player Irina Armstrong,England's Tricia Wright and the 1st lady to play on the PDC circuit and current WDF World number 1 Deta Hedman.

It's very disappointing that current BDO World Champion Trina Gulliver and 2009 champion Frances Hoenselaar did not enter. For years these Women have been very vocal in giving out to the BDO about the poor prizemoney in Womens darts but when the opportunity arises for the chance to win the greatest prizemoney ever in Womens darts they turned down the offer? Still that's their choice and good luck to them, their both top class pros.

Today's competition will be played down to the last 2 with both players playing the final live on TV before the World Matchplay final. Best of luck to the 2 Irish players competing,Sharon O'Brien and Denise Cassidy, let's hope they do very well.

My Roaming Reporter {Susan McKenna} - - - brilliant game by Sharon to eliminate one of the favourites {Clare Bywaters} - also a great performance from Denise in a tight match.

    Keep it going Girls !

Tricia Wright is 1 of the best Women players on the circuit and is 1 of the favourites to win it out but well done to Sharon on reaching the quarter finals and who also done very well to beat another 1 of the top ladies on the circuit in the 1st round Clare Bywaters.
